Ministry Update – A Moving Adventure

Just imagine..

Imagine that you are cruising down the road in a 17 foot rental truck with your car in tow. The truck is loaded with all your “stuff” and you have been on the road 13 hours when you hear a pop, crack and the speedometer suddenly says you are going 110 mph when you are actually doing 50. Now imagine that you are stranded on a Quebec highway at 9 PM with the darkening sky being lit by a thunder storm a few miles away. Well.. that is how Naomi and I spent our fourth of July.

The adventure continued as our non-English speaking tow truck driver was towing us to the garage when the heat caused by the friction of the seized bearings and broken rear axial cause some parts around the rear tire to erupt into flames. We were able to get the fire out without any damage to the contents of the truck, but it sure did a number to the transmission! Four hours later we had the truck dropped off at the garage and we got a hotel room so we could catch a few hours of much needed sleep.

Needless to say, the truck wasn’t going to be fixed any time soon, so the next day another truck was delivered to us. The new truck arrived mid-afternoon and we were able to transfer all our stuff from truck to the other without further incident. Finally, twenty three hours from the time that our first truck broke down, we were back on the road again to Owen Sound!

Since arriving at Word of Life, Naomi and I have been busy getting our apartment unpacked and getting ourselves caught up in what is happening in Word of Life Canada. The summer camp is going at full capacity so there is lots of excitement on campus! I am already getting quite busy contacting prospective students for our first school year (starting in 59 days!) Yesterday we had a married couple wanting to become missionaries and another gentleman from the UK asking about our Bible Institute.

We are very excited about finally being here and getting involved in the ministry with the Word of Life Bible Institute. Thank you for your prayers and for your help in getting us here.
