Where were you when the lights went out?

I happened to be on the phone with someone who is coming to the BI this coming year when the power for much of Ontario and large sections of the US went out. Thankfully, the power returned to our campus at 12:42 AM after 8.5 hours.

We currently have 112 teenage campers and another 60 summer staff, not to mention staff families living on the property. We did get a generator hooked up to our water pump to provide some water for the camp after supper. We had had some discussions about having to send campers home early if the power was going to be off for a day. But the big question in our mind was, what should we do about the graduation ceremonies that we are supposed to have this weekend?

Thankfully, the power is back on and the graduation events for the first class of the Canadian Extension of the Word of Life Bible Institute will continue as planned. Sunday, August 17 will be the last day of the first year of our school. It has been an incredible year and the end of it has come too quickly!

While we will be sad to see the students who have become our friends leave this weekend, we are already busy making plans for the coming year. There are only 28 days until registration for the class of 2004.

Prayer Request:
After a few months of not having any symptoms, Naomi is once again experiencing the mystery numbness in the left side of her body. The doctors have ordered more extensive MRI tests to help determine what might be happening. Please pray for Naomi and I as we deal with this situation.

Answer to Prayer:
Naomi has started part time work with a temp agency here in Owen Sound. This is helping meet our needs as well as providing Naomi the flexibility to continue to do design projects for Word of Life.
