Chaos Theory Solved

Associated Press OWEN SOUND — Scientists around the world are breathing a sigh of relief to now have an understanding of the much debated chaos theory. Under special lab conditions, observers were able to witness the creation of chaos out of order. The lead scientist on this project said “Like all the great theories, like E=MC2, this one can be stated by a rather simple formula. In this case, it is ‘Order + Children = Chaos’.”

The complete research project will be published in the scientific journal Parenting.

You are small

I found these pictures on another website.. no idea where they originally came from.

#1 The Earth and other “rocky” planets.

click for larger image

The Earth is the largest of the four inner planets (and much larger than Pluto). Think about how large our world seems to us.

#2 The Gas Giants

The Earth is tiny compared to even the smallest of the gas giants. Our planet is even 2 or 3 times smaller than the Great Red Spot, a storm on Jupiter that has been going for more than 400 years. Jupiter is the largest of these planets. It is so large that you could fit all the other planets and their many moons inside it. Jupiter “is 318 times more massive than Earth, with a diameter 11 times that of Earth, and with a volume 1300 times that of Earth.” – Wikipedia

#3 The Sun

As large as it is, Jupiter is tiny compared to the Sun. The Earth is but a speck. I am less than that.

When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
Psalm 8:3,4

Going to the Chapel

On Saturday, May 13, Naomi and I both had the privilege of being a part of the wedding of our friends, Charlie and Lindsey Lyons. It has been great to see their relationship take seed, grow, and now blossom into marriage. And we had front row seats to the ceremony.. actually, not seats because we stood during the whole thing. Naomi was a bridesmaid and I was one of the groomsmen. It was a wonderful day and the service was a meaningful testimony to the LORD’s work in their lives. We were very thankful to be a part of their special day. What was happening with Ellie while we were at the wedding you ask? My sister Alana knew we were looking for a babysitter for the two days we would be away and volunteered to fly up and look after our daughter. Thanks Alana.

Sometimes life cracks me up..

So I come home from work tonight and greet my wife and daughter at the door. It’s almost 5:30 and we are going to be late for supper in the dining hall with the students (pizza night!), so I rush down the hallway to get out of the tie that has been cutting off the flow of oxygen to my brain all day. I then discover that another flow has not been cut off as my socks gush into the shag carpet in the hallway. What’s that sound?? Water running??

I open the bathroom door and the entire floor is covered in dihydrogen monoxide pouring out of a crack on the side of our circa 1970 harvest gold toilet.

Scrambling to the basement to turn off the valve, I wade through a small lake that is coming through the ceiling in about 5 places. With the water shut off it is time to start cleaning up the mess before any real damage is done. Thankfully, it hadn’t been flowing long, so nothing really got wrecked except a dozen rolls of toilet paper in the closet. The real quicker picker uppper..

We made a call to the boss, who not only does accounting but apparently knows how to replace a toilet. While I used a shop vac to try to get water out of the carpet and clean up the lake in the basement, Evan went to town to purchase a new throne for me. Naomi fled for high ground with our daughter, who by this time was pretty disturbed with all the commotion.

A couple of hours later the carpet is still drying out but I have learned a few things about replacing toilets from Evan. We still have no idea what caused the side of that thing to suddenly crack, but we are thankful that it didn’t happen while we were out or during the night..

Glistening and Pristine!
