Game delay..

..due to tropical storm Alberto. Naomi, Ellie and I were due to leave for a small island off a small island in the middle of the Bay of Fundy. However, the remnants of Alberto was also due to be there, and we didn’t want to be at that party feeling like a shaken martini. I’ve been on that ferry in a storm and do not really want to experience that again.. We will try again tomorrow.

While on White Head Island (a small island just off the coast of Grand Manan Island), we will be visiting an old friend, meeting some new ones, and sharing our ministry at the church (singular) on that island.

A funny thing happened January 24, 1919

Here in Sackville, NB there was a bit of rain. That is nothing unusual right now as it has rained every day since we started our vacation last week. The rain I am talking about was on January 24, 1919. The winter rain must have been unusual enough that someone painted it on the wall in the paint room at the Campbell Carriage Factory Museum here in Sackville.

This is a fascinating little museum right here in my home town. Apparently the factory ran for over 100 years before it was closed. It seems that the employees locked to door on the way out and nobody disturbed the facility for many years. The tools and patterns for cutting, a few unfinished carriages and sleighs were all left inside. Be sure to check it out if you are in the area.

The Campbell family also started a funeral business and there were a number of casket materials in the factory as well.

Doh! The problem with hand engraving.. there is no eraser to fix it with.

The hubs for the wagon wheels were cut in advance and allowed to dry for at least a year before being used. These never got taken off the shelf.

Spindles get banged into the hubs.

Spindle ends getting shaped.

The wheel assembly table.

Wood Point

On Sunday June 11 I had the priveledge of speaking at Wood Point Baptist Church. This is a small church just outside Sackville that has been faithfully supporting Noami and I since we started at WOL. This is also the first church that I ever preached at.

Staff

Naomi and I are now in Sackville after a refreshing and fun time at our semi-annual national staff conference. Together with our co-workers from both the English and French divisions of Word of Life Canada, we were in Schroon Lake for a few days. We had many challenging messages from the Word of God and the theme for the conference was “Serving with Excellence in a World of Mediocrity”. Naomi and I both really enjoyed all the Bible sessions.

Weddings

This past weekend I was the photographer for the wedding of Peter Zimmerman and Heather Evison. Heather is the daughter of one of my coworkers. We had a great day and the forecasted thunderstorms and all day rain didn’t crash the party. You can see some of the photos on my photography page: www.TroyAndNaomi.com/photography

Later this summer I will be doing the photography for some of our alumni who are getting married. It is very exciting to be a part of these special events, to see the bride and groom and their love and joy on their special day.
