Four years ago today, I was nervously waiting for the most incredible woman I had ever met. This particular time I wasn't waiting for her to get ready or to finish something.. I was waiting for her to walk down the aisle and meet me at the front of the church. A very special day indeed.

Today is our fourth wedding anniversary. Today we are 2590 km apart, but today we are closer than we were four years ago. Happy anniversary to my beautiful wife. I love you.

Four Generations: Ellie, Naomi, Grandpa, and Great Grandma.

Ellie being read to by Grandma.

No.. Grandpa isn't needing a walker. That is being used by Grandma who is recovering from foot surgery. It is at a great height for Ellie and apparently she loves to hold on to it as Grandpa walks her around the house over and over and over......

One week down, one to go. Naomi has been away for a week now, and apparently I am still alive. Thankfully, I like to plan ahead. I knew at some point I would be home alone, so I added a survival book to my library. I've had to fend for myself and eat whatever I could catch (in the fridge) and cook it. Unfortunatly, the book doesn't have a section on sorting colours for laundry.

Yesterday in Kitchener I saw a gas station price their gas at $1.16/liter. Ouch. And this is just the start of the summer gas price gouging season.
This summer we will be driving to Schroon Lake for a staff conference, and then on to New Brunswick for a few weeks of vacation and visitation of supporters. With the prices of gas going up and up, I guess we will have dip into the retirement plan to pay for the cost of driving home this summer..

At this time last year the price was about $.20 cheaper than it is now. If the growth trend continues during the summer months like it did last year, I'll be searching through the couch for lost quarters._____________________________________________

I'm back from a convention and am finally able to post some pics. Here goes:
Grandma greats Ellie at the Calgary airport
First hugs by Grandpa and "Mr. Wabbit"
Big mess
Ellie dressed up for Easter Sunday
Ellie's Easter Sunday outfit (and her blanket) getting inspected by her great grandmother
Ellie apparently didn't sleep well her first few days out there. Naomi suspects that it has something to do with the two new teeth Ellie has gotten since arriving out there. I think that brings the total up to 7! I'm not getting my fingers near those chompers._____________________________________________

Last Friday night we had a storm system go through our area. I was able to get a couple of pictures without getting myself killed.
I set the tripod up in the patio door and opened it up to get some long exposures to try and catch the lighting flashes.

Next time I will take the van out and shoot through the open side door or something.

Ministry Update: While the cats away the mouse will.. go to conventions?

For the next two weeks I will be home alone. Naomi and Ellie are in Alberta visiting family and spoiling the grandparents. Naomi's mother is going to have some surgery on her feet that will keep her from walking for a bit, so Naomi is there to help around the house and Ellie is there to cheer everyone up. Please pray for Noami's mom and for a safe return for Naomi and Ellie.

I will be quite busy while they are away.. I have two conventions to attend to represent WOLBI, one is a church denomination's regional convention, the other a home schooling convention. Please be praying that we will be able to share our ministry of youth evangelism and discipleship with many people going past our booth.
I will also have another Campus Days happening next week (April 28-29). We are now expecting around 25-30+ prospective students to come and check out the school! This is likely going to be our biggest CD yet. Please pray for these young people that they will seriously consider formal Bible training.. and that it would be with us at WOLBI!
An answer to prayer: Today is not only Easter Sunday, but it was the first Sunday for our new pastor at South End Fellowship Baptist Church. For the past 21 months our congregation has been without a pastor and that has meant a lot of extra work and responsibility for me and the other deacons. We thank God for how he has worked in our church during the transition time and that he has provided a new pastor for us, and I look forward to working with Pastor Mark Lowrie and to what God has next for our church.

Let the tan begin! Today is a wonderfully warm day. So nice, in fact, that I decided to expose my legs to the sun for the first time since our long Canadian winter began. I think the glow from my legs blinded an old couple driving by the house.

Its great to be Canadian._____________________________________________

Our campus is pretty quiet as most of the students have gone home for the Easter long weekend. Last night the four guys who stayed came to our place to join us around our little fire. We had marshmallows, chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate. It was a bit cool, but we are looking forward to many more nights around the fire this summer.
Ellie enjoys listening to her mom play her fiddle.
Naomi was preparing for teaching a violin lesson and Ellie decided to test her mom's ability to read music during an Elliequake as she shakes the music stand.

STEAK!
Naomi spoiled me for supper with a steak, stuffed baked potatoes (potatoes that are baked, then the contents scooped out, mashed and mixed with cheese and put back in the potato skin!), and a ceasar salad. It was even a quiet meal with just me and my wonderful wife as she had dropped Ellie off at a friends house for a few hours.

Oh yeah.. I had some cards and presents too. Yup, another April 10th, another birthday. Life is good.

This past Saturday I was home alone with Ellie. Naomi had gone to town to help paint the office at church. About 15 minutes after Naomi had left I was standing in the living room finishing a bowl of cereal and Ellie was standing up and holding on to my legs. She let go of my legs and I thought she was going to crawl away. Instead, out of the corner of my eye I saw this little blonde head moving towards the couch where one of her toys were. She had taken about three steps to get to her toys and I almost missed it! I doubt Ellie had realized what she had done either, she was just happy to be at the couch with her toy. Ellie loves to walk and has been walking for months, but only when she is hanging on to you with both her hands.
I called Naomi to tell her the news. Of course she was disappointed to not have been here to see it. Poor Naomi is with her all day every day, and the one time she leaves Ellie alone with me for a few minutes and the girl starts walking!_____________________________________________

Remember the old Mouse Trap board game? It had nothing on these guys. Check out this video of Rube Goldberg machines ("A Rube Goldberg machine or device is any exceedingly complex apparatus that performs a very simple task in a very indirect and convoluted way. - Wikipedia):

PS: the music will drive you mad, but it is worth it._____________________________________________

Today I discovered the first hint that Ellie is going to have my "sick" (as my wife calls it) sense of humour.
While playing with Ellie I coughed once. She giggled.
I pretended to cough the second time.. She laughed.
I coughed a third time and she thought her dad was the funniest person on the Earth.
I continued to pretend to cough and she fell down laughing at me. Apparently the more hacking your cough the funnier it is.
Already she can laugh at other's pain. Does this mean she will eventually laugh at The Three Stooges with me? This should be fun.

Spring has sprung
The grass has riz.
I wonder where the flowers is?
Of course I took these photos just before we got 3 inches of snow. But that is the norm in many parts of Canada. The bad thing is when it happens in May or June..
Now for the obligatory Ellie photo:

Ellie can't move much when she is wearing this bulky winter coat. The other day she was standing and leaning on front of my legs. She then bent forward a bit and fell flat on her face. I don't think she could move her arms around front to catch herself..
