Fish n’ Chips

When you travel to the UK, you need to experience some fish n’ chips. Not the McDonald’s variety, you need the real deep-fried-goodness of authentic fish n’ chips. We found some at the “Chippy” in Holyhead, Wales.

Sandy and I were travelling from Derby to North Ireland via the Holyhead ferry and stopped for lunch just outside the ferry terminal. I had told Sandy I was really looking forward to some fish and chips, so he kept an eye out for a good place.

We had to pay more to eat in instead of “take away”, but it was a really good meal.

Now you see it…

Now you don’t.

Ellie’s new laptop

Over the weekend Ellie decided that the kids all need their own computers, so she set about making some.

I’m not sure what this says of her understanding of the purpose of having computers.

The three kids spent part of the weekend typing away on their new computers. Ellie even put shiny tape on the “screen” of hers to simulate glass. Ethan and I watched a few movies on his computer. There was no sound since Ellie had forgotten to draw speakers on his computer , so Ethan had to narrate the entire movie .

So there you have it. A little creativity and now we have three new computers on the cheap. Thanks Ellie.

Maybe I should get her to make me a new GPS.

Ministry Update :: November 9, 2012

Home again!

Just over a week ago I landed back in Canada, ending my last trip for the year. I was returning from a 19-day trip to the United Kingdom and Ireland, where GoodSeed was testing a new workshop for our new WorldView Rethink curriculum.

First ever WorldView Rethink Workshop in Edinburgh, Scotland. This was the official launch of our newest material!

What is Worldview Rethink? Here is a short video (4 min) that we shot and I edited together explaining it:

Our team started out with six of us from North America and Sandy, who heads up our UK operations. We started with a one-day workshop in Edinburgh, Scotland where we did our first ever Worldview Rethink: The Workshop. From there, we conducted two Workshops in Derby, and our team split up to conduct one in Leeds. The remainder of our team then traveled to Northern Ireland and then Thurles in Ireland for the last two workshops.

Assisting with the teaching in Thurles, Ireland.

All together, we had approximately 175 people in total at the 6 workshops. We covered a variety of topics relating to the Gospel and and how to share it with others. We heard back from attendees that they were greatly encouraged about sharing this most precious message of the Gospel with others, and we had many people purchase our evangelism resources, including our new Curriculum kits and visual aid kits.

Please visit www.goodseed.com/leaders/ for more information about our new Worldview Rethink program.

Whenever I travel, it is always a privilege to meet other believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, to hear how their lives have been changed by the Gospel message and enjoy the fellowship with them.

It has been a very busy year for me and our family, with trips to India, Ontario, and this trip to the UK and Ireland. Things should settle down for a bit as I dig back into work on editing video for the “By this Name: Interactive Edition”.

We had many people praying for our trip back home. We had to fly from Dublin to London, and very quickly change terminals and try to catch our flight to Calgary. It was really important for me to catch that flight, or else I would miss Ethan’s 4th birthday! We are very thankful that the Lord answered those prayers and I just barely made the connection and was able to be back with my family for his big day! Check out our blog for more photos of the birthday boy.

Thank you for your prayers and support of our ministry with GoodSeed.

Ethor is Four!

Ethan holding the sign Ellie made for him.

Ethan buddy turned four years old this week. His birthday has been the subject of much prayer this year as it was also the day that I was to fly home from the UK and Ireland. We had a tight connection in London and a number of people were praying for me and the team to be able to make the flight and get home for Ethan’s birthday. We barely made it… Thank the Lord for answered prayer!

Ethan picking daddy up at the airport after a 19 day trip. I hope that that was a good birthday present.

By the time we had supper and got home it was almost bedtime, but we did open up a few cards and presents: Hot Wheels!

Ellie reading to Ethan the birthday card she made for him.

The next night we had some family over forĀ  cake and a few more presents. Ethan had told Naomi that he really wanted a Spiderman cake, so she picked up a cupcake one for him.

Well of course, after the celebration it is time to put toys together with daddy and have lots of fun.

Monster trucks doing what monster trucks are supposed to do: crush cars.

Happy fourth birthday, Ethan buddy! We love you much and look forward to what this next year hold for you.
