Camping trials

Not that kind of trial. We were testing out our new-to-us 2008 pop-up tent trailer! We purchased it from some friends for a really good price, and plan to haul it across Canada and the US in our Epic North American Road Trip. This past weekend was our first trial run with the camper at a local camp site to see how it towed and figure out all the systems and such. Everything worked well, and we made a few discoveries about things we need to purchase and prepare for the big road trip. We also discovered that a pool noodle under the mattress cover can help the girls not push each other around in their sleep!

This could just be my effort to fit in here in Alberta, as it has one of the highest RV ownership levels in the world at 26%. This time of year, you see campers and motor homes filling the roads. Of course, ours is pretty small by Alberta standards, but I also don’t have a truck to haul it around with.

That weekend we also had the kids signed up for COPA for Kids flight at the local flying club. This was a free event that Ellie took part in last year, and all three kids are now old enough to participate.

And if that wasn’t busy enough, one of their classmates was competing in a local rodeo, so we spent the afternoon enjoying that!
