A son of mine, who shall remain unnamed, first knocked the medicine cabinet off the wall. New cabinet ordered, shipped, assembled. Painting tape put up and paint purchased to cover the fact that new medicine cabinet is slightly smaller. Naomi was ready to open paint when same unnamed son put hole in tile in the shower. Painting put on hold.
Old construction that allowed water to soak through the grout made the drywall not so dry, and there was too much give in the wall. So one hard bump, and some tile was busted. New tile? The old porcelain covered steel tub has a few chips in it, best change out the tub while we are at it. The old “gold” fixtures should be replaced too I guess. The can of worms is opened.
In removing the tile we took it back to the studs, replaced the insulation, put new vapor barrier up, new tub installed, put a new water resistant wall board up, painted it with a water proof membrane, put in a few shower shelves to give more storage (two daughters) and a serious upgrade to the plumbing (floor display model cleared out at 1/3 the price!). Now to police use of the rain head that uses twice as much water.
Next up: finish that paint job we started a couple months ago.
Hi Troy: Wow, that is a education looking at all those pictures. And a real education fair your unnamed son. Love that shower head. Think I’ll buy one.
