It’s been a year since we last took a family portrait, so last week when there was a few minutes that it wasn’t raining, we packed up the kids and went out to the field.
“Ethan, where is the camera?”
GoodSeed recently hosted an open house for the public at our newly completed office. Completed?! Yes! After 10+ months of working on it we have finally moved in. The Open House had over 200 people attend and were given a tour showing GoodSeed’s history and our vision for worldview evangelism. All of us were excited to share our ministry with so many people.
I was one of the tour guides taking people through the building and explaining some of our evangelism tools and resources that were on our many displays.
It took many people to get our office space finished, and it took many more to pull off the successful open house. We thank the Lord God that our office is done and we are ready to get back to work!
Recently, John Cross was interviewed a few times on Moody Radio’s This is the Day. One of our co-workers, John Krajec, transcribed it and made it available for us.
Kindergarten: ORIGIN mid 19th cent.: from German, literally ‘children’s garden.’
Another big day in the Johnstone house: Ellie has started kindergarten! Our big girl just keeps getting older… funny how that works. And now she is starting the next level of schooling (flashback to last year). She was very excited and has been really looking forward to it. The last week or so she has been getting new school supplies and such to get her ready, so anticipation has been building. Last night we drilled four things she was to do at school:
We spent some time talking about the importance of wise decisions, especially in picking friends and how her friends would influence her, for good or for bad.
She was very happy to go this morning when I said goodbye and gave her one more thing to remember: Have fun! After a quick hug and kiss, she ran straight to her new teacher. What a keener!
The day wasn’t without tears for Ellie… one of her life dreams didn’t happen. She was very disappointed at the end of the school day when Naomi showed up to take her home. She cried because she thought she was going to get to ride a school bus home.
We thank God for this little girl and her enthusiasm, and pray that she will learn much about Him and and the world He created while having fun at school.
We finally did it… we bought a house! Thank you to all who have been praying for us in our search over the last few years.
We have a little, 42-year-old, bi-level house in town. It has a finished basement and a big back yard for the kids to run around. We think the Lord has really provided a nice deal for us. The house was empty and the owners were really wanting to sell. They listed the house for less than their realtor suggested, and then dropped the price considerably for us!
Naomi and I take possession of the house just a few days before I travel to Ontario to help teach an evangelism seminar in September, so we will be moving in after I get back.
Right now, Naomi and I are at GoodSeed’s annual staff Bible camp. It is a time to get away, refresh, and enjoy the fellowship of our coworkers from across Canada, USA, Australia, and Europe, all while being encouraged and challenged by the teaching of God’s Word.
Thank you all for your prayers. We couldn’t be a part of this ministry without it!
